When will the retreat packages be offered? The dates and rates will be published March 1, 2019 on this website. Retreat packages will be scheduled on weekends in January (start the year fresh) and April (celebrate spring). A limited number of mid-week retreats are available on request. Sign up for our mailing list to receive updates.
What if I book a January retreat and the weather is bad? No problem. We don't want the potential for bad weather to dissuade you. If the National Weather Service issues a severe winter weather advisory or watch within your travel area, and you are not able to make it to Fayetteville, we will reschedule your retreat OR provide you a 100% refund - your choice.
Can I plan a one-night retreat at Lafayette Flats? Yes, but the price of the package will remain the same. The price is set to ensure that you, our cleaners, our collaborators and I have a fair exchange.
Can I bring my partner or a friend? Our packages are designed as solitary retreats, but two flats will be available every weekend. So you can book one flat and your friend can book the other! If you decide to allow another person to stay in your flat there will be an additional fee.
What about food? Fayetteville is known for its delicious locally owned restaurants. Mmm. Additionally, there are two grocery stores within a 5 minute drive from Lafayette Flats, and all our vacation rentals have compact but full kitchens with a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, teapot, Fiestaware dishes, flatware, dish clothes, soaps, knives, cooking pots, pans and utensils.
Is the location safe? Yes! Fayetteville is a very safe small town (3,000 people). Lafayette Flats is located in the center of town and walking distance from all the restaurants and shops. The county courthouse is directly across the street and the police station is nearby. We use a mechanical code lock on the main door and separate electronic code locks on each of the four flats. The code for your flat will be unique to you.
How will I access the yoga/meditation studio? One of the flats on the second floor, Flat No. 2, Corten, is being transformed into a studio during January and April. You will receive a code to the studio, in addition to the code to your private flat. You will share studio time with one other retreat attendee. Arrangements have been made to ensure complete privacy while accessing the studio.
Can you help me plan my optional activities? Yes. When the retreat dates and rates go live on March 1, 2019, I will include information on this website regarding the scheduling of optional activities. There will be a helpful checklist for you to complete. You and I can communicate by phone, text or email - your choice.
What will the forest bathing session be like? Quiet and contemplative. Shawn and/or I (your choice) will lead you through a slow gentle walk inviting you to use all five of your senses to experience the forest. The session will last about two hours and end with a tea ceremony. If guided forest bathing is not your thing, feel free to explore the New River Gorge National River trails independently.
Can I bring my pet to Lafayette Flats? Pets are not permitted at Lafayette Flats. Trained service dogs are permitted for guests with diagnosed disabilities. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA and therefore not permitted at Lafayette Flats.
What else should I know about the venue, Lafayette Flats? During the January and April Retreats, Flat No. 1, Nuttall and Flat No. 3, Quinnimont will be available for retreat packages. Lafayette Flats is located inside a historic building. Travelling up one very long flight of stairs is required to get to Nuttall and traveling up two very long flights of stairs is required to get to Quinnimont.
What is the difference between Flat No. 1, Nuttall and Flat No. 3, Quinnimont? Flat No. 1, Nuttall is on the second floor of Lafayette Flats. It is a modern spacious apartment with unique design elements and original local art. Nuttall boasts a claw foot tub, rainfall shower, a beautiful view of the historic courthouse, an LED HD television in the living space, a queen size medium-firm bed, two twin size futons and a fully equipped kitchen.
Flat No. 3, Quinnimont is on the third floor of Lafayette Flats. It is considered the Master Flat. In addition to the amenities available in Nuttall (original art, soaker tub, rainfall shower, great view and fully equipped kitchen), Quinnimont boasts two televisions (one in living space and one in bedroom), a queen size Tempur-pedic mattress and a small sitting room. Quinnimont does not have futons.
